HIV/AIDS AWARENESS MEETING

On Tuesday, 28 February 2023, Yayasan Bali Bersih and Yayasan Anak Anak Bali held an HIV/AIDS AWARENESS MEETING. This activity aimed to introduce the Mobile Clinic program and establish collaboration with the Health Service and other foundations for preventing HIV/AIDS cases in Bali.

Dinas Kesehatan Provinsi Bali (Bali Provincial Health Office), Komisi Penanggulangan AIDS Bali (Bali Aids Commission), Yayasan Akar Cinta Kasih, KISARA Bali, Yayasan Kesehatan Bali, Yayasan Kerthi Praja, Yayasan Spirit Paramacitta, Yayasan Bali Peduli, and Yayasan Maha Bhoga Marga attended this activity.

Westerlaken foundation/Yayasan Bali Bersih collaborates with Yayasan Anak Anak Bali (Bali Kids) to initiate the Mobile Clinic: HIV/AIDS Awareness Program. This program visits schools to provide socialisation about HIV/AIDS to students aged 12 years and over and provide general health checks for students in Bali.

Yayasan Anak Anak Bali is a foundation engaged in children's social and health fields by helping underprivileged and neglected children and those with certain diseases such as HIV/AIDS..

Head of Seksi Pencegahan dan Penanggulangan Penyakit Menular (P2PM) Dinas Kesehatan Provinsi Bali appreciated this activity. He explained that cooperation from various parties was urgently needed to handle HIV-positive cases in Bali. He hoped that HIV/AIDS-positive patients would be willing to carry out checkups and be ready to undergo treatment.

Dinas Kesehatan also appreciates the foundations that actively handle and prevent HIV/AIDS cases in Bali. The social environment is a severe problem in HIV/AIDS cases. People with HIV/AIDS are rarely accepted in society, so this can inhibit their desire to seek treatment.

Yayasan Bali Bersih is grateful for suggestions to improve the quality of Mobile Clinic activities and is willing to collaborate with the government and foundations for HIV/AIDS prevention through education. Every child has the same right to get an education and good health.

The Stop Orphanages Campaign is an initiative spearheaded by Westerlaken Foundation and Yayasan Bali Bersih. Its primary objective is to combat the exploitation of children and the use of orphanages as a means of personal gain, and children as a marketing tool. While we acknowledge that there are Child Welfare Institutions (LKSA) in Indonesia that genuinely prioritize the well-being of children, extensive research reveals that a majority of orphanages in Bali, Indonesia operate in violation of the National Standard for Child Welfare Institutions (30/HUK/2011). This standard explicitly prohibits the institutionalization of children based on poverty or limited access to education, as well as emphasizes the importance of empowering families and preventing the recruitment of children into orphanages.
